Manchester United boss Sir
Alex Ferguson has said the club have offered South Korean midfielder
Park Ji-Sung a two-year contract extension.
Park, whose contract is due to end in 2012, retired from international duty in January to focus on his club career.Ferguson said: "He has been offered a new contract, yes. His career at United has been nothing but excellent.
"I'm sure he'll accept the new offer, and tie himself to the club for the next two years."
Park, who scored in United's 7-0 victory over Seattle Sounders in a friendly on Wednesday, joined the Old Trafford club from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in 2005.
The 30-year-old has won four Premier League titles and three League Cups with the English club and became the first South Korean to play in a Champions League final when the Red Devils lost to Barcelona in 2009.
Ferguson also confirmed that new goalkeeper David de Gea will make his debut for the club against Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire on Saturday as the Red Devils continue their United States Tour.
The 20-year-old, an £18m signing from Atletico Madrid, joined the tour late after playing a key role in Spain's victorious European Under-21 Championship campaign last month.
After training for three days, the United boss is now keen to see how the Spaniard performs in a match environment.
"David has had a few days' training now and done fine," said Ferguson.
"Being young and coming into the English game, the one area we are not sure about is that he may need time.
"On the other hand, he might do what Petr Cech did at Chelsea and take it by storm. Cech came into the Chelsea team and has never been out of it."
