England fast bowler Chris Tremlett has been ruled out of the third Test against India with a back injury.
Tremlett missed the second Test because of a related hamstring problem but was still named in the squad for the game at Edgbaston which starts on Wednesday.Tim Bresnan, who impressed at Trent Bridge, is set to keep his place as England seek to go 3-0 up and depose India as the world's number one side.
The match is due to go ahead as planned despite overnight riots in Birmingham.
Tremlett's absence has eased a likely selection dilemma for England, who would have had to choose between him and Bresnan, who took a total of seven wickets and scored 101 runs - including a second-innings 90 - in the 319-run win at Trent Bridge.
Middlesex seamer Steven Finn is also in England's squad at Edgbaston, while Ravi Bopara is in line to replace the injured Jonathan Trott.
Ian Bell will bat at number three for England after making a century in that position in the second Test.
Tremlett has been one of England's key men in 2011, taking 15 wickets at an average of 23.40 in the series win over Sri Lanka in the first part of the summer.
The ECB confirmed he would miss the Test at Edgbaston, adding: "[He] will receive ongoing treatment ahead of the fourth Test."
England lead the series 2-0 and a victory at Edgbaston would see them not only win the series but become the world's number Test team for the first time since the rankings were introduced.
