Left-back Michael Ball has signed a one-year contract with Leicester City after impressing during pre-season.
BBC Radio Leicester
first reported the move for the 31-year-old on Friday and the Foxes
have now confirmed the deal, which has an option for a second year. Ball, who has one England cap, played for Foxes boss Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City but has been without a club since leaving Eastlands in 2009.
Eriksson told the club website: "He is a good influence on and off the pitch."
Ball could make his debut in the Carling Cup tie against Rotherham on Tuesday.
Eriksson added: "Michael is another very experienced player that will add further depth to our squad.
"He has come back from a spell out injured and has a good opportunity to recapture his previous form. If he can do that, he will be a bargain."
Injury-plagued centre-half Aleksandar Tunchev, 30, has also signed a deal with the Foxes but has now been loaned to Crystal Palace until 1 September.
